The term “Disaster Victim Identification (DVI)” is used when referring to the processes and procedures applied during a response to a major incident or mass fatality operation. This will include internationally accepted protocols of identification (for example fingerprints, DNA and odontology) of the deceased whilst also assisting both with the investigation of the incident and the bereaved families.
