OVERVIEW

The role of the forensic archaeologist is to aid investigators in the search and recovery of both visible and buried items which may include but are not limited to; weapons caches, narcotics and human remains whether as part of an ongoing investigationor cold case review. Their expertise can assist agencies in understanding best methods of searching from using least intrusive techniques, to the full excavation and recording of a site or grave and the evidence within (completed in accordance with the Chartered Institute of Archaeologists UK, 2014 standards).
